Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2026/1093 of 12 May 2026 on the appointment of the Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) (EUCAP Sahel Mali/1/2026) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision 2014/219/CFSP of 15 April 2014 on the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) OJ L 113, 16.4.2014, p. 21, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2014/219/oj. , and in particular Article 7(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 7(1) of Decision 2014/219/CFSP, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising the political control and strategic direction of the European Union CSDP Mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the High Representative). (2) On 27 January 2025, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/166 Council Decision (CFSP) 2025/166 of 27 January 2025 amending Decision 2014/219/CFSP on the European Union CSDP Mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) (OJ L, 2025/166, 28.1.2025, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2025/166/oj). , extending the mandate of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2027. (3) On 2 December 2025, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/2466 Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2025/2466 of 2 December 2025 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP Mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) (EUCAP Sahel Mali/2/2025) (OJ L, 2025/2466, 5.12.2025, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2025/2466/oj). , extending the mandate of Mr Peter KOLDING as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 1 February 2026 to 10 April 2026. (4) On 23 April 2026, the High Representative proposed the appointment of Mr Eugène VAN KEMENADE as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 13 May 2026 to 31 January 2027. (5) A decision on the appointment of Mr Eugène VAN KEMENADE as Head of Mission of EUCAP Sahel Mali from 13 May 2026 to 31 January 2027 should therefore be taken, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Mr Eugène VAN KEMENADE is appointed as Head of Mission of the European Union CSDP mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali) from 13 May 2026 to 31 January 2027.

Article 2
